Questions
Is Chessingo free?
Yes. Playing, ranked games, the daily puzzle and the rankings are free in your browser, with nothing to download. Membership is optional and adds extras such as unlimited puzzles.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Press Play now and you are in a game as a guest. Sign up free to claim your rating, keep your game history and play from any device.
Who will I play against?
Challengers from countries all over the world, each with a name, a country, a clan and a rating, matched near your strength.
How do the rankings work?
Ranked games move your Elo rating, which measures how strong you are. Wins also earn points you bank for yourself and your country, so the country table shows what its players have earned. Points are won at the board, never bought.

Can I practise or learn openings?
Yes. Practise against the engine at any strength, solve the daily puzzle, or learn any opening move by move with a grandmaster coach.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Chessingo runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and you can install it on your home screen as an app, with practice that works offline.
